What is Junior Beta Club?
Williams is pleased to announce their Junior Beta Club for fourth and fifth graders. Beta Club will be Williams’ prestigious honor club that recognizes high academic achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for your children to develop interpersonal relationship skills. Mrs. Devine will serve as the club’s sponsor. Each Fall, late November or early December, members will travel to the state conference to partake in competitions and leadership opportunities. If students win at the state level, they will travel to nationals during the summer.
How does my child become a member?
There are no applications to Beta Club. Students who receive straight A’s for academics and all satisfactory or excellent under Responsibility of the Learner on their report card will be extended an invitation to join. The first invitations will be offered after the quarter four report cards this school year. Future invitations will follow after each quarter’s report cards from the 2016-17 school year.
How will students maintain their membership?
In order to maintain Beta Club membership members will have to maintain their high academic status, outstanding behavior and ethics, in addition to, being actively involved in the club’s meetings and projects. Breaks in any of those eligibility requirements will result in the member being put on probation, for a period of time as determined by the club sponsor, or possibly being dismissed from the club. For more details please read the probation section above.
